13 Apr 2008 - Tagua 1.0 alpha2 is out!
We are proud to announce the availability of the second Alpha release of Tagua.
Major changes since the last release include localization support, with Czech and French translations (by Karel Volný and Yann Dirson respectively), improved support for loading and saving of PGN files, new Shogi variants, and a number of fixed bugs.
We take this release as an opportunity to send out an invitation for new contributors: the Tagua project needs C++ developers who can help out with the porting and testing of plugins to the new component API, or who want to add plugins for more games, or add more features to Tagua itself. If you are willing to help us getting a final 1.0 release ready soon, please contact us at our development mailing list.
You can download this release as a source tarball here. Debian packages are also available - they require kde4 libs from experimental.
9 Oct 2007 - A new plugin architecture for Tagua
We are working on a completely redesigned plugin architecture. Our aims are to simplify the API, allow better code reuse and plugins written in scripting languages. It is not yet clear whether the new architecture will be ready in time for our Beta release.
2 Sep 2007 - Tagua 1.0 alpha is out!
As Tagua is approaching a 1.0 release, we thought it was time to make some sound, releasing an alpha version (codename "Clinks") as a preview. Tagua is very playable (and sexy) right now, and even though we still got some work to do, it's time to ask for contributions. We got some basic games (Chess and Shogi) and nice themes, but we want more. So everyone who has some favorite board game, implement it as a Tagua variant, and send it to us! Artists are welcome to create some nice themes. Of both, we will decide which ones are mature and good enough to be shipped with Tagua, so you'll have a chance to see your game in the next KDE 4 releases!
